hey guys

I have a Macbook and I need to upgrade the system from 10.v.8 to at least 10.6 in social club to go some apps to work.

I live in Iran and there is no official apple tree stores in my state then I decided to try and upgrade information technology myself earlier handing it over to those unofficial places.

I have absolutely no idea what I should do. but I'g a quick learner so don worry nigh that O:)

please assist me practise the upgrade step by step.

You need to get yourself an Os 10.6 install disk. I practise non know what options you have in Iran to get an Os 10.6 install disk. But in many places of the earth…a ten.6 install deejay can exist purchased from the online Apple Store…or they can be purchased from other Mac users via eBay.

Just in many places of the world…a ten.6 install deejay tin be purchased from the online Apple Shop…or they can be purchased from other Mac users via eBay.

it'southward actually not the matter of money merely trust.
the stores we take here are not reliable especially when it comes to Mac functioning system and apps. I volition exercise it if its my last option.

Bone ten.6 (and before Mac OS versions) only came on disk…and was never offered as a downloadable OS. You NEED Bone 10.6.half-dozen or higher to accept access to the Mac App Store. And so you will have access to newer downloadable Os versions (x.vii, 10.8, x.9, and x.10).

And so what do I do after I get the deejay?

Insert information technology…boot the figurer from it...and follow the on screen instructions.

simply one more than affair ... I've had this macbook for over 6 years. if I update it to the latest OS (if I can!!) wouldn't information technology get mess up? or should I just stick to the older versions like 10.half dozen?

what I meant to ask is ... which OS is suitable for one-time devices?

Might accept older applications that will not run on anything higher than ten.6 and then y'all should check into that if you don't want to purchase lots of other software upgrades.

Need to know exactly what MacBook model you have…to decide what the max. OS version information technology tin can run is.

I know that you want/need to upgrade your MacBook's OS to "get some apps to piece of work" (like you mentioned in post #1). But like "toMACsh" mentioned…if you lot upgrade the OS too far…then apps that you currently accept may not work (or not work without being updated themselves).

So it really comes down to at least three things that need to exist considered when upgrading a calculator's Os:

1. What apps do you currently have…and will they be made incompatible (won't run) if upgraded to a newer OS version.
ii. What Bone version exercise the "new" apps you want to run crave.
iii. What exact model is the reckoner…so we know just how far the OS can be upgraded (what's the newest OS version it tin can run)…IF…installed/upgrading to the newest Os version is desired.

don care about the old apps I downloaded cause the ones I mostly apply are itunes, vlc, firefox (which volition be replaced past chrome after the upgrade) and some built in apps.

the apps which comes handy to people in Islamic republic of iran are mostly the ones for using proxy in order to surf the net. cause some websites are blocked for people within the land and I need admission to them. so I want to use Anyconnect which requires Bone 10.six or later on.
But I don want to upgrade my system to 10.6 and have to exercise it all over again in a couple of years because of the requirements in near future. that'southward why I'grand asking to upgrade to the latest version. other apps I need to have are PDF reader and maker, excel and stuff like that for my new job.

3. What verbal model is the computer…so nosotros know just how far the Bone can be upgraded (what'south the newest Bone version it tin run)…IF…installed/upgrading to the newest OS version is desired.

Thanks for all the info…great to hear that you don't have any electric current apps that need to be concerned about.

Your MacBook is new plenty to be able to run the about electric current Mac OS (Yosemite ten.x). But…many folks feel that although the minimum ram for Yosemite is 2gig…Yosemite runs meliorate with 4gig or even 8gig of ram.

Your MacBook has 2gig of ram…so technically Yosemite should run…only it'due south possible you may feel some performance bug.

I think that many folks would recommend more than 2gig of ram for Mavericks besides. Besides…Mavericks is currently not available. Apple tree seems to have pulled information technology from the Mac App Shop.
